What Are Penny's Limitations?

Learn what Penny can and can't do, so you know when to rely on AI and when a different approach may be needed.

Penny is designed to help you better understand and manage your finances, but like any AI assistant, she has limitations.

While she's constantly learning and improving, there are certain things Penny cannot do, and some situations where her responses may not always be perfect.

Understanding these limitations helps you get the most out of your conversations with Penny.

Penny Does Not Provide Financial Advice

Penny is designed to educate, explain and help you understand your finances.

She can:

  • Explain financial concepts.
  • Help you understand your spending.
  • Compare financial products.
  • Provide insights and information.

However, Penny does not provide personalised financial advice or tell you what you should invest in or which financial decisions you should make.

Any information Penny provides should be considered educational and informational rather than financial advice.

Penny Cannot Control Third-Party Accounts

If you've connected external accounts through Open Banking, Penny can view and analyse the information available from those accounts.

However, she cannot:

  • Move money from third-party accounts.
  • Make payments from external accounts.
  • Change settings on third-party accounts.
  • Carry out actions with other banks or financial providers.

These connections are view-only and are used to provide insights into your finances.

Penny Can't Operate Every Part of Yeeld

Penny can complete many actions within Yeeld, particularly for Yeeld Companion users.

However, not every feature within the app can currently be controlled through Penny.

Some tasks will still require you to navigate to the relevant screen and complete them yourself.

We're continually expanding what Penny can do over time.

Penny May Occasionally Misunderstand You

Although Penny understands natural language, she won't always interpret every question perfectly.

This can happen if:

  • A question is ambiguous.
  • There isn't enough information.
  • Multiple meanings are possible.
  • The request is particularly unusual or complex.

If Penny misunderstands your request, simply rephrase it or provide a little more detail.

Financial Data Isn't Always Perfect

Penny works with large amounts of financial information gathered from different sources.

Financial data can sometimes be:

  • Uncategorised.
  • Incorrectly categorised.
  • Missing information.
  • Delayed.
  • Inconsistent between providers.

When this happens, Penny will always do her best to interpret the available information, but some insights may not be completely accurate until the underlying data is corrected or updated.

Penny Is Always Improving

Penny continues to evolve as new features are introduced and her capabilities expand.

Over time, she'll become better at understanding questions, performing actions and helping you manage your finances.

In Summary

Penny's current limitations include:

  • She does not provide financial advice.
  • She cannot control third-party accounts connected through Open Banking.
  • She cannot currently operate every feature within the Yeeld app.
  • She may occasionally misunderstand complex or unclear questions.
  • Some financial insights depend on the quality and organisation of the underlying financial data.

Penny is designed to make managing your finances simpler, and while she isn't perfect, she's continually improving to provide an even better experience.
