What is Secure Customer Authentication (SCA)?

Learn what Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is, why it's required, and how Yeeld uses it to help protect your account and your money.

What Is Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)?

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is an additional layer of security designed to help protect your account from fraud and unauthorised access.

It is a regulatory requirement for many financial services and helps ensure that only you can access your account and approve important actions.

How Does Yeeld Use SCA?

Yeeld uses Strong Customer Authentication throughout the app whenever additional security is required.

You may be asked to complete SCA when:

  • Signing in to your account.
  • Recovering access to your account.
  • Resetting your password.
  • Confirming certain account changes.
  • Authorising payments or transfers.
  • Completing other sensitive actions.

How Does SCA Verify My Identity?

SCA works by asking you to verify your identity using two or more independent authentication factors.

These fall into three categories:

  • Something you know – such as your password or 4-digit app passcode.
  • Something you have – such as your registered mobile phone, which receives one-time passcodes (OTPs).
  • Something you are – such as Face ID or your device's biometric authentication.

Using more than one factor makes it much more difficult for someone else to gain access to your account.

Why Is SCA Important?

Strong Customer Authentication helps to:

  • Protect your account from unauthorised access.
  • Reduce the risk of fraud.
  • Keep your personal and financial information secure.
  • Ensure important actions are authorised by you.

In Summary

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is one of the ways Yeeld helps keep your account secure.

By using multiple forms of verification, such as your password, 4-digit app passcode, Face ID and one-time passcodes, we can help ensure that only you can access your account and approve important actions.
